| TANGAROA 
 The  Polynesian  god  of fish and reptiles, Tangaroa oncesailed to the  island  of Faumea, who was a woman who had eels in her vagina thatkilled  men, but  which Tangaroa had learned to entice outside. The sea god married herand had two children. When one of them was surfing, the demon  octopus Rogo-tumu-here seized her and dragged her to the bottom of  the  ocean. On a hook baited withsacred feathers Tangaroa drew up the  octopus  to  the  surface, hacked off tentacleafter tentacle, then finally the monstrous head.
