SATYAVRATE A king of India who was selected to escape the great flood sent by Vishnu to punish thewickedness of its inhabitants, King Satyavrate was saved by the first Avatar of Vishnu, whichappeared in the form of a fish, and which towed the ark to safety into which Satyavrate and hisfamily, as well as seven sages and their families, had entered, taking with them at the god'sinstruction two of each species of animal on the Earth.
