PROETOS Brother of Akrisios, and son of Abas, Proetos and his brother hatedeach other from infancy, and Proetos, growing to manhood and finding himself constantly defeated in the fraternal encounters, left for Lycia, where he was welcomed by the king there. With the aid of a Lycian army he marched against hisbrother, gaining dominion over Argos and Corinth, fortifying himself in the citadel ofTiryns, while his brother held out at Larsia.
