PEGASUS The offspring of Poseidon and the Gorgon Medusa, Pegasus was a wonderful horse, fleet as the wind and with wings that couldcarry it through the air. After Perseus slew the Gorgon and cut off herhead, Pegasus sprang from the trunk, and Perseus mounted the fabulous horse. Bellerophon also rode the horse, until he was destroyed trying to scale Olympus on itsback. Zeus then presented Pegasus to Eos.
