NOAH The grandson of Methuselah, Noah was warned by Yahweh that a great deluge was on the way, and that he should have his sons build him a great ark, into which he was to take two of each species of animal, bird and insect, that they might escape the great flood. Noah did as ordered, and when the flood came, he and his family and all the animals were safe, being buffetted for forty days and forty nights on the sea that arose, finally emerging onto the soaked earth, and repopulating the human race.
