KHONVUM The supreme deity of the Pygmy religion, Khonvum is seen as formless and eternal, and makes contact with men through the intermediataries of animals, usually the chameleon. After the creation of the world, Khonvum lowered from the sky to the earth the first men, the Pygmies, providing for them all that they needed. At night, Khonvum collects all the broken pieces of stars in a sack and tosses armfuls of them into the sun, so that it can rise again in the morning.
