BRES A legendary Irish king, Bres was the son of Elatha, a prince of the Fomoire, and Eriu, a woman of the Tuatha de Danann. Given the throne of Ireland in the hope that he would unite the people and ensure peace and good will between the Tuatha de Danann and the Fomoire, Bres did not live up to these expectations, being a cruel and oppressive king. Finally deposed, he fled and raised a formidable army from his own people, but was killed during the battle against the Tuatha de Danann.
