AMUN Amun was the chief god of Upper Egypt, one of the most highly spiritual of the gods. He was known alternately as Amun-Ra, and Amun-Num, the extensions to his name both being other gods. Amun's goddess was Maut, and together with their son, Khuns, these three formed the Trinity of Upper Egypt.
