ALKYONEUS The finest warrior of the race of Giants, neither Athene nor great Zeus himself could beet him in combat. This was because the Giants' mother Earth had made them proof against all of the weapons of the gods. However, they were susceptible to the weapons of mortals, and it was Hercules, called forth by Athene, who slew Alkyoneus with his arrows.
