ADAM In Christian belief, the first man on Earth, created from dust by God. Adam and his wife, Eve, were care takers of the Garden of Eden, and instructed by God that they might eat the fruit of every tree in the Garden, bar one, the Tree of Knowledge. But Satan, appearing in the form of a snake, convinced Eve that she and her husband would be like gods themselves if they ate the fruit of the tree. Eve tasted a fruit, gave some of it to Adam, and for this crime they were cast out of Paradise.
