William F. Goodling (born December 5, 1927) was a Republican member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Pennsylvania. Bill Goodling, the son of George Atlee Goodling was born in Loganville, PA. He received a B.S. from the University of Maryland in 1953, a Masters in Education from Western Maryland College in 1957, conducted doctoral studies at the Pennsylvania State University, 1958-1963. He held various teaching and administrative positions throughout the State of Pennsylvania, and served in the United States Army from 1946-1948.
He was elected to congress as a Republican in 1974. He served as Chairman, Committee on Economic and Educational Opportunities and Chairman, Committee on Education and the Workforce. He retired from public service in 2001.
He is currently the Chairman of the Board for the Goodling Institute for Research in Family Literacy.
