Wayne Primeau (born June 4, 1976 in Scarborough, Ontario) is a professional ice hockey centre for the Boston Bruins of the NHL. He is the younger brother of Keith Primeau. He is 6'4" and 230 pounds. Wayne Primeau was drafted 17th overall in 1994 by the Buffalo Sabres where he scored his first NHL goal against Martin Brodeur of the New Jersy Devils. He was traded to the Tampa Bay Lightning in 1999 and was then traded to the Pittsburgh Penguins on February 1st of the 2000-01 season.
Primeau was acquired by San Jose from the Pittsburgh Penguins for Matt Bradley on March 11, 2003. After a career year in 2004, Primeau was eligible for group IV unrestricted free agency. However, he loved San Jose so much that he became the first player in NHL history to decline free agency, and he signed a two-year-contract worth US$2.2 million.
He was then traded to the Boston Bruins on 30 November 2005 with Brad Stuart and Marco Sturm for Joe Thornton.
