Wade Belak (Born July 3, 1976 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan) is a Canadian professional hockey forward/defenceman. Belak is best known for ability to stand up for his fellow players in the league. He currently plays for the National Hockey League's Toronto Maple Leafs. He was drafted by the Quebec Nordiques in the 1994 NHL Entry Draft, First Round, 12th Overall. He has played for the Colorado Avalanche, Calgary Flames and Toronto Maple Leafs. In 2004-05 he played for Coventry Blaze in the British Elite Ice Hockey League during the NHL lockout. Belak won man of the game a number of times and was presented with a case of beer. Belak is an adaptable player, able to play in both defensive and wing positions, although he does spend a large percentage of his game time in the penalty box. Belak has earned himself a solid reputation as an enforcer in the NHL.
