Sonya Smith (born April 23, 1972 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania),born Sonya Eleonora Smith Jacquet, is a half-Venezuelan, half-American actress who is a star on the Venevision television channel. She is the daughter of Venezuelan acting star, Ileana Jacquet.
Smith grew up in Venezuela, which is the reason why she speaks Spanish perfectly. As a young girl, she identified deeply with Venezuela's Latin American culture.
Her breakthrough came in the early 1990s, as "Estrellita Montenegro" in Cara Sucia, a Spanish soap opera that was viewed by millions across Latin America, in the United States and Europe.
During 2005, Smith made her Hollywood debut, playing "Angela LaSalle" in Cyxork 7, where she acted alongside Ray Wise.
Smith remains a popular actress in Venezuela.
