Solanus Casey as born on November 25, 1870, in Oak Grove, Pierce County, Wisconsin. He joined the Order of Friars Minor Capuchin, a Roman Catholic religious order for men. He took the name of Solanus. On July 24, 1904, he was ordained to the Roman Catholic priesthood in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. On July 31, 1957, Father Casey died in Detroit, Michigan and was buried in the cemetery at St. Bonaventura Monastery in Detroit. In 1995, Pope John Paul II declared Father Casey to be venerable.
