Roy Dyson (Born November 15, 1948), a Democrat, was a U.S. Congressman who represented the 1st Congressional district of Maryland from 1981 to 1991. He was defeated in the 1990 election by Republican Wayne Gilchrest. Following his defeat, in 1994 he ran for and won a Maryland State Senate seat centered in parts of the Southern Maryland counties of Calvert and St. Mary's, and was re-elected in 1998 and 2002.
