Rosalind Russell (June 4, 1907 - November 28, 1976) was an American film and stage actress.
Russell was one of seven siblings born to a Waterbury, Connecticut Irish-American Catholic family. She attended Catholic schools before attending the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City.
She was not named after Shakespeare's heroine, but rather after a ship her parents had travelled on.
