Only Ivan Lendl and Jimmy Connors surpass him in this record.
In 2004, Federer became the first man since Mats Wilander in 1988 to win three out of four Grand Slam events in the same year. As of 2006, he is widely regarded as the dominant player of his era. He is also widely regarded as having the potential to become one of the greatest players of all time.
