He had an All-American career at Mississippi State University, before Palmeiro debuted on September 8, 1986 with the Chicago Cubs. He played with the Cubs through 1988. He went on to have two stints with the Texas Rangers (1989-1993 and 1999-2003). He has also had two stints with the Baltimore Orioles (1994-1998 and 2004-2005).
