Radek Dvorak Radek Dvořák (born 9 March 1977, Tábor, Czech Republic) is a winger for the Edmonton Oilers of the National Hockey League. He was drafted in the first round of the 1995 National Hockey League Entry Draft, 10th overall, by the Florida Panthers. Known for his strong skating, Dvořák played in the NHL the very next season, and would spend four and a half seasons playing for Florida, before being involved in a three-way trade for Mike Vernon. Dvořák ended up on the New York Rangers, and the following season (2000/01), he scored a career-high 30 goals and 67 points playing on a line with fellow Czechs Petr Nedvěd and Jan Hlaváč. The New York Rangers continued to disappoint, however, and following weak play, Dvořák was traded to the Edmonton Oilers at the 2002/03 NHL trade deadline, along with Cory Cross, for Anson Carter and Ales Pisa.
Dvořák returned to his native Czech Republic for the 2004-05 NHL lockout, and has represented his country at world championships, and the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, Utah. For the 2005-2006 NHL regular season Dvořák has been in somewhat of a scoring slump for Edmonton (27 points in 63 games); but he has nevertheless played an integral role in the Oilers' drive towards the Stanley Cup playoffs, often giving momentum to the Oilers through his mid-game drives to the net through the opponent's defense.
