Nia Vardalos (born September 24, 1962 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada), is a Greek-Canadian actress, screenwriter and producer. She had done many different works but gained almost overnight success with her movie My Big Fat Greek Wedding, which was made into an unsuccessful CBS series, starring almost all of the original cast, except John Corbett, which was called My Big Fat Greek Life.
Vardalos is married to actor Ian Gomez, who appeared in her hit film My Big Fat Greek Wedding.
As of 2004, her latest work is the movie Connie and Carla, which co-starred Toni Collette.
