Mike Enzi (born February 1, 1944) is a United States Senator from Wyoming. He is a member of the Republican Party. Before his election to the U.S. Senate in 1996, Enzi had been a businessman, who at one time owned family shoe stores, who had later become a politician on the state level, serving in the state legislature for over 10 years. He was reelected to the U.S. Senate in 2002. Born in Bremerton, Washington, Enzi attended public schools of Thermopolis and Sheridan, Wyoming. He graduated from Sheridan High School in 1962. He is an Eagle Scout and recipient of the Distinguished Eagle Scout Award from the Boy Scouts of America. He received a degree in accounting from George Washington University in 1966 and an M.B.A. in retail marketing from the University of Denver in 1968. He served as Mayor of Gillette, Wyoming from 1975-82. He served in the Wyoming House of Representatives from 1987-91 and in the Wyoming State Senate from 1991-96, when he was elected to the U.S. Senate.
