Martin Campbell (born October 24, 1940, Hastings) is a New Zealand film and television director. He is best known for ushering in Pierce Brosnan in the first of four appearances as James Bond in the 1995 film GoldenEye. In 2006 Campbell will also usher in Daniel Craig as the sixth official Bond in the official film adaptation of Ian Fleming's novel Casino Royale. On television, his best known work is the 1985 BBC Television drama serial Edge of Darkness, for which he won the British Academy Television Award for Best Director in 1986. Prior to that, Campbell was known for some of the more action-oriented episodes of TV series The Professionals (1977-1983).
