Marcie Blane Marcie Blane, born May 21st 1944 in Brooklyn, New York is a female singer, who recorded pure pop music. The Seville record label issued a demo cut by the high school student more as a favor for a friend. The song was Bobby's Girl, which was followed by What does a girl do and half a dozen other singles which sunk without trace. Recently a CD was issued of her entire output although no original album was ever issued. The single made No.2 in "Cashbox" and was later recorded for the German market in their language. In England the song was covered by Susan Maughan who had the hit. Marcie Blane came along at a time when white female singers were scoring high on the charts and who were really more in line with girl group pop and 1962 had already had a chart topper in Shelley Fabares. A year later came Peggy March and Leslie Gore, though most were painfully aware they would be one hit wonders. It was always a case of the song and not the singer.
