MC Trouble LaTasha Sheron Rogers (July 30, 1970 - June 4, 1991) was a rap artist who went by the stage name MC Trouble. She was the first female rapper signed to Motown Records. MC Trouble had a semi-hit in 1990 with the song "(I Wanna) Make You Mine" . Her first album, Gotta Get A Grip wasn't an instant smash, but the young rapper had promise. Sadly, that promise was short-lived; on June 4, 1991 while recording new material for a sophomore release, Trouble suffered a epileptic seizure reach resulted in heart failure, she passed away shortly after, she was only 20 years old at the time of her death.
During the early 90s, widely regarded as the "golden age" of rap music, tragic rapper deaths were uncommon. The rap community was shaken by MC Trouble's death as it was by the loss of Trouble T Roy (one of Heavy D's dancers) and Scott La Rock (DJ and founding member of Boogie Down Productions). Despite her relative obscurity, MTV aired segments announcing her passing. MC Trouble even earned a few shout-outs on wax, most notably from A Tribe Called Quest in the song "Vibes and Stuff" from their album, The Low End Theory.
However, even considering these touching memorials, MC Trouble was barely eulogized when compared with the omnipresent tributes to Notorious BIG and Tupac that came a few years later. In many circles, MC Trouble has been all but forgotten. Most tragic of all, none of her music is currently in circulation nor has her debut album been remastered or re-released.
