Lila McCann (born December 4, 1981 in Steilacoom, Washington) is a successful country music artist. McCann recorded "Down came a Blackbird" while she was a freshman in high school, she gave her demo to her manager and she soon after signed with Elektra records.
She came out with her first album, titled Lila in 1997. Her first single Down Came a Blackbird went to #37 country top 40 but her second single went to #2. I Wanna Fall in Love become her highest charted hit. The album gone platinum. Time magazine named her "Most Successful New Artist" in the same year.
Lila was part of country music youth movement that started with LeAnn Rimes, and Jessica Andrews.
Her first national tour was with the George Strait Country Music Festival where Faith Hill, Tim McGraw and Lee Ann Womack also performed.
Her second album 1999's "Something in the Air" sold more than 500,000 and was certified gold. "With You" also went to #7 country chart.
Her third album, "Complete" was released in 2001. She worked with a new producer, David Malloy.
She has also acted in Walker, Texas Ranger in a part that was written for her.
As of 2005, according to her website, Lila is working on a new album as well as contributing singles to albums made by recording artists such as Jim Brickman.
She currently lives in Nashville, Tennessee.
