John McTiernan (born January 8, 1951) is a movie director, and a M.F.A. graduate of the AFI Conservatory, most notable for his action movies. He was born in Albany, New York, USA. Most action cinema fans agree that the director's best works career-wise have been 1987's Predator, 1988's Die Hard, and 1990's The Hunt for Red October (which McTiernan directed back-to-back-to-back). McTiernan was one of the names said to be working on the fourth Die Hard movie, but the producers recently stated (early 2006) that they are pursuing a new director. Movies directed by McTiernan include:
Nomads (1986) Predator (1987) Die Hard (1988) The Hunt for Red October (1990) Medicine Man (1992) Last Action Hero (1993) Die Hard: With a Vengeance (1995) The 13th Warrior (1999) The Thomas Crown Affair (1999) Rollerball (2002) Basic (2003)
