John M. Murphy (August 3, 1926) was a member of the Democratic Party, and a member of the United States House of Representatives from New York from 1963 to 1981. Implicated in the Abscam sting, in which FBI agents impersonating Arab businessmen offered bribes to political figures; indicted June 18 and convicted December 3, 1980, of conspiracy, conflict of interest, and accepting an illegal gratuity; sentenced to three years in prison and fined $20,000; paroled in 1985.
