Frank Thompson (July 26, 1918; Trenton, New Jersey - July 22, 1989; Bethesda, Maryland) was a Democratic U.S. Representative from New Jersey from 1955 to 1980. He was implicated in the Abscam sting, convicted on bribery and conspiracy charges, and sentenced to three years in prison. Frank Thompson, Jr. served in the United States Navy 1941-1948; received three combat decorations for action at Iwo Jima and Okinawa; commanded the United States Naval Reserve Battallion 4-22 and completed a seventeen-month tour of active duty, from August 1950 to January 1952, on the staff of the commander, Eastern Sea Frontier.
