Eric Roberts (born on April 18, 1956, in Biloxi, Mississippi) is an American film actor. He was raised in Smyrna, Georgia, and is the older brother of actress Julia Roberts.
He was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor in 1985 for his role as the escaped convict Buck in the film Runaway Train.
His other starring roles include Star 80 (1983), The Pope of Greenwich Village (1984), Best of the Best (1989), The Specialist (1994) and The Immortals (1995). In 1996 he appeared in the Doctor Who television movie in the role of the Master. He has also appeared in the music videos for "Mr. Brightside" by The Killers and "It's Like That" and "We Belong Together" by Mariah Carey. In an episode of South Park, he was parodied as a fading character actor who was eaten by cannibals. He also appears in the 2002 film "Spun" as "The Man" alongside Mickey Rourke and Jason Schwartzmann. He also did the voice of Dan Phantom, Danny Phantom's evil future self. He was also immortalized in an episode of Seinfeld. After giving away the ending of the film, Kramer tells George that Roberts' performance as the husband in the film The Other Side of Darkness was "unforgettable."
Most recently, Roberts has co-starred on the ABC sitcom Less Than Perfect. His daughter Emma has joined her father and aunt in the acting business. Recently, Emma Roberts gained a starring role on the Nickelodeon series Unfabulous.
Apart from the aforementioned jobs, he has also appeared in many B Movies, and continues to do so. So many, in fact, that he has often called himself 'King of the B Movies.'
