Elizabeth Hartman (December 23, 1943 - June 10, 1987) was an American actress. Born in Youngstown, Ohio, she debuted in the 1965 film A Patch of Blue, a role which garnered her a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Actress. She went on to star in three well-received films, The Group, You're a Big Boy Now and The Beguiled, but continuing depression interfered with her career. She was also the voice of Mrs. Brisby in The Secret of NIMH. In 1987, she committed suicide by jumping from a fifth floor window in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, after calling her psychiatrist to tell him that she was feeling despondent.
