Edward Zwick (born October 8, 1952 in Chicago, Illinois) is an American film director. Some of his notable films include Glory (1989), Legends of the Fall (1994), Courage Under Fire (1996), The Siege (1998), The Last Samurai (2003) and the upcoming The Lions of Al-Rassan. He attended the AFI Conservatory and graduated with an M.F.A. degree in 1975. He, along with Marshall Herskovitz, run a production company called The Bedford Falls Company. This company has produced such notable films such as Traffic and Shakespeare in Love, and the TV shows thirtysomething, Once and Again and My So-Called Life.
