Biography: | David Minge (born March 19, 1942), is an American politician and judge. Minge was a Democratic member of the United States House of Representatives from 1993-2001, representing the 2nd District of Minnesota. He was born in Clarkfield, Minnesota, and graduated with a bacherlor's degree from St. Olaf College and a law degree from the University of Chicago Law School. Minge was part of the Blue Dog Coalition of fiscal conservatives in the United States House of Representatives and was a champion of the Conservation Reserve Enhancement Program (CREP), a federal-state partnership to improve water quality and protect the environment. Minge narrowly lost his campaign for a fifth term to Mark Kennedy in 2000. In 2002, Gov. Jesse Ventura appointed Minge to the Minnesota Court of Appeals. He is married to Karen Aaker Minge, originally of Gaylord, Minnesota. They have two sons, Erik and Olaf, and four grandchildren (Christopher, Sonja, Annika, and Jocelyn). |
