Cosima De Vito (born November 1, 1976), also known simply as Cosima, is an Australian singer-songwriter known for her powerful diva voice. Her strong voice often draws favourable comparisons to Whitney Houston and Celine Dion. Legendary songwriter Diane Warren commented that "Cosima is the younger Celine Dion. She’s a little edgier than Celine, more dynamic.” Cosima generated some controversy when she was forced to quit the inaugural Australian Idol competition due to a throat condition at very short notice. This withdrawal caused her to be placed 3rd in the season, the highest-placed female. Network Ten was forced to issue refunds for all votes for that show. Prior to the final episode she was strongly tipped to win the series and was regarded as the best singer in the competition. At current, she is the only Australian Idol finalist of all three seasons not to have been officially voted out.
