Born in Virginia, birth date unknown; studied law; was admitted to the bar and practiced in St. Augustine, Florida; member of the legislative council of the Territory of Florida, 1837; elected to the Twenty-fifth United States Congress and Twenty-sixth United States Congress (March 4, 1837-March 3, 1841); died in St. Augustine, Fla.
