Brooks Robinson (born May 18, 1937) is an American former third baseman in Major League Baseball. He played his 23-year career with the Baltimore Orioles (1955-77). Robinson was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1983. Robinson was born in Little Rock, Arkansas. He grew up to play third base for the Orioles, and gained great renown for his fielding ability. Nicknamed "The Human Vacuum Cleaner", he is generally acclaimed as the greatest defensive third-baseman of all time. He won 16 consecutive Gold Glove Awards during his career, tied with pitcher Jim Kaat for the most for any player at any position.
