Brendan Behan (February 9, 1923 - March 20, 1964) was an Irish poet, short story writer, novelist and playwright who wrote in both Irish and English. He was also a committed Irish Republican and a member of the Irish Republican Army.
Behan was one of the most successful Irish dramatists of the 20th century.
