Prior to Devin Lima joining the group in 1999, the 3rd member was "Brizz", who was with the group from its start in 1997. Although they are commonly referred to as LFO, Lyte Funky Ones (originally spelled Lyte Funkie Ones) can be used in order to not confuse them with the British techno group LFO. Prior to Brizz leaving the group in 1999, they were almost always referred to as Lyte Funky Ones. Subsequently, they shortened it to LFO to sound less "cheesy". When asked what "LFO" stands for, they commonly reply, "We like it because it looks cool as a logo."
