Barry Van Dyke is the second son of legendary actor and entertainer, Dick Van Dyke, and nephew of Jerry Van Dyke. He was born in Atlanta, Georgia on July 31, 1951 and has one older brother, Christian, and two younger sisters, Stacy and Carrie Beth.
Barry's TV debut was as Florian, a violin-toting nine year old in "The Talented Neighborhood" episode of the classic The Dick Van Dyke Show. He worked behind the scenes on subsequent ventures of his father's, and has co-starred with him in two series, The Van Dyke Show, and Diagnosis Murder, as well as since becoming a superstar in his own right buliding up an extensive filmography. He also wrote and directed several episodes of Diagnosis Murder.
Diagnosis Murder finished an eight-year run in May of 2001, and two TV movies were aired in the spring of 2002. Barry's other television work includes Galactica 1980, TJ Hooker, Airwolf (4th season), Gun Shy, Mr. Mom, and The Redd Foxx Show, as well as many guest appearances, including a major role in a 2 part episode of The A Team. His films include Foxfire Light, It Happened at Lakewood Manor, and Casino.
Barry Van Dyke meet his wife Mary Van Dyke when they were sixteen and he was working as a ticket-taker at a neighborhood movie theatre. They were married seven years later, in 1974 and they have four children, Carey, Shane, Wes and Taryn. Carey and his wife Anne made them grandparents in 2001, with the birth of their daughter Ava.
