| Biography: | Alex Varkatzas (born January 17, 1982 in Orange County, California) is the vocalist/throat singer for the Metalcore band Atreyu. He is half Greek and his real first name is "Ektor" which is a family name. He has a large number of tattoos, many of which are based on Japanese imagery. He currently lives in Orange County, only a few blocks away from the houses of Offspring vocalist/guitarist Dexter Holland and Avenged Sevenfold vocalist M. Shadows. Also, he is a health and fitness fanatic and he does not drink alcohol, although he used to be somewhat of an alcoholic. Most of their newest album, A Death-Grip on Yesterday, is based on the struggles he went through quitting his drinking habit. |
